LEWISTON — Nine gymnasts from Springers’ Gymnastics Center in Ellsworth competed Sunday and brought home a number of first place awards.

Andy Valley Gymnastics hosted the event with other gymnasts from Gym Nation in Kennebunk and the Bath YMCA.

Springers’ gymnasts compete in Levels 4 through 6, and did very well for their second meet, said coach Doug Springer.

Since competing in New Hampshire two weeks ago, the boys have been working hard on execution and refining routines.

“I think the guys can see how important all those little details can be, and how rewarding it is when they’re done correctly,” said Springer.

At Level 5, Nate Mason took first place on pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and horizontal bar, second on vault and third on floor and was first all-around.

Also at Level 5, Ben Politte placed first on floor and vault, fourth on pommel horse, rings and parallel bars and fifth on horizontal bar and was fourth all-around.

At Level 6, Kyle Adams also was best all-around, placing first on vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar and third on floor, pommel horse and rings.

Other meet results:

Level 4

Raist Cotroneo – fourth on pommel horse and horizontal bar, fifth on parallel bars and sixth on floor and vault for sixth all-around.

Ben Muise was fifth on pommel horse and rings.
